Initiatives
AGX Signs MOU with Mexican University
Daniel Garcia, President of Universidad Regional del Norte (URN) in Chihuahua, Mexico, traveled to College Station this month to discuss collaborative opportunities with AdventGX. During his visit, Mr. Garcia and AdventGX President Jose Quintana signed an MOU between URN and AdventGX.URN offers economic and organizational developmental programs where
participants gain insight into policy and tactical methodologies. URN’s multi-disciplinary and distinguished faculty has provided leadership and professional development opportunities throughout the American continent and abroad. To learn more about URN, visit their web site at www.urn.edu.mx/.

AdventGX Receives Tour of Luz de Estrella Winery
AdventGX team members visited Luz de Estrella Winery of Marfa and received a tour and update on the winery’s expanding operations. The winery offers tours and tastings daily as well as special events including live music and gourmet dining experiences offered in collaboration with area eateries. Luz de Estrella is also an excellent venue for weddings and other special events. AdventGX Hosts Office of the Governor for AdTracker Meeting
Representatives of the Office of the Governor Economic Development and Tourism traveled to College Station for a meeting regarding the AdTracker database developed by AdventGX for use in tracking and analyzing the state’s advertising investment. AdTracker provides a mechanism for analyzing the effectiveness of ad placements across various media and based upon the creative approach. During the visit to College Station, the group stopped at the George Bush Presidential Library to view the replica of the White House that is currently on exhibit. AdventGX to Support Sanderson Strategy Development
The Terrell County Commissioners Court recently voted to award AdventGX the contract to develop Sanderson’s economic and tourism development strategy. Using it’s proven AdventGX Strategy Deployment (ASD) process, AdventGX team members will facilitate a series of community workshops aimed at identifying Sanderson’s best developmental opportunities. AdventGX team members will travel to Sanderson in May and hold a series of workshops with community leaders, citizens and business representatives, documenting the community’s assets and capturing community members’ ideas and visions for establishing prosperity in Sanderson. This Phase I project will culminate in a documented and prioritized plan of activities aimed at leveraging the community’s existing assets.
 
Quintana Meets with Sanderson Leadership
Jose Quintana traveled to Sanderson, Texas to meet with members of the Chamber of Commerce in advance of the upcoming workshops aimed at establishing an economic development strategy for the community. Quintana addressed the group, providing information about the AdventGX approach to identifying best developmental opportunities and capturing the voice of the community to ensure that, once established, plans reflect local values and vision for growth and prosperity. Terrell County recently awarded a contract to AdventGX for development of the Sanderson Economic and Tourism Development Strategy. Workshops to launch the strategy deployment process will be conducted in Sanderson in mid-May.

Joe O’Leary Heads to Colorado State University
Texas A&M Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences said farewell to Department Head, Dr. Joseph O’Leary. O’Leary will take over as Dean of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University beginning in May. Under his leadership, the RPTS program at A&M increased the size of its faculty, graduate program, and level of research funding.

Watt Honored By Texas A&M
AdventGX team members attended Texas A&M Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences’ (RPTS) annual banquet. At the event, former students, students and professionals in the tourism industry were presented awards for their outstanding contributions and achievements. Executive Advisory Board member, and RPTS Professor Emeritus, Carson Watt, was honored with the Leslie M. Reid Alumni Award for his success in the tourism industry as a Texas A&M RPTS graduate.
