I-Week 2006: Self Reflections
The theme of I-Week 2006 is Self Reflections. I believe that these two words carry much insight and power with the image it evokes. The creator of this theme, Luis Martinez, could not have said it better when he wrote
"Humanity is a reflection of life that encompasses joy, anger, sadness, revolution, triumph, death, birth, adolescence, and other aspects that make life, LIFE.
The idea for our theme reflects the self, and self implies LIFE. Humanity knows no boundaries, no political borders, no races, no color, no languages. It is a common theme for everyone. It is this commonality and kinship that bonds all of HUMANITY together."
Interacting with people from different backgrounds allows us to learn about and appreciate the world around us and encourages us to value and rediscover our own customs and way of life. My hope is that this week not only invokes questions and dialogue among the international and local community but also aides in every person's journey to self-actualization.
