The Office of Rural Community Affairs awarded over $10.9 million to the West Texas Region, including Pecos County Memorial Hospital for $45,000.00.

The monetary awards will support economic development projects and health care services in the region. Pecos County Memorial Hospital will use the grant funds to purchase a new Blood Gas Analyzer for the Respiratory Department, new computer systems, and new baby beds.

All grant recipients who attended the event were honored with an oversized check which ranged from $908 to $500,000. ORCAšS Executive Director, Robt. J. Sam Tessen, MS presented a check for $45,000.00 to Russell Tippin, PCMH CEO and Kirstie Ramirez, PCMH Grant Director.

We are here to celebrate the success of each of these grant recipients who worked hard to prepare the applications required to secure these funds for their communities, Tessen said. The commitment exemplified by these awardees reflects the sincere devotion rural Texans have to their neighbors. This strong dedication deserves more than just a letter from the state; this type of allegiance deserves personal recognition from the federal, state, regional and local officials and citizens who all benefit from this determination to keep rural Texas thriving.
